Partnership with the Cambridge LUCE Hub

LUCE is a statewide immigrant justice network that includes 40+ Hubs in cities around Massachusetts. LUCE’s two priorities are 1) ICE watch rapid response (staffing a statewide hotline, and responding to and documenting suspected ICE sightings) and 2) mutual aid rapid response (supporting neighbors with the emergency financial needs that arise from detention). LUCE’s vision is to build power in communities directly impacted by immigration enforcement so they can live with dignity and thrive.

KLO Community Spirit is collaborating with the Cambridge LUCE Hub as fiscal sponsor and lead partner for the Hub’s mutual aid rapid response. When LUCE or KLO Community Spirit is notified about a family at risk or a neighbor who has been detained, they will work together to help the family navigate the various legal and direct aid resources available in Cambridge. 

We are fortunate to live in an area where there are significant resources available, but accessing them is often confusing and arduous. This is especially true for families experiencing enormous financial and emotional strain due to the everyday stress and disruption caused by immigration enforcement. Supporting a detained loved one can mean taking time away from work, navigating unfamiliar legal systems, and covering unexpected expenses—all while worrying about rent, groceries, and other basic needs. KLO Community Spirit and Cambridge LUCE will shoulder some of that burden by building a support network in Cambridge where no one has to face immigration enforcement alone.
